Shots fired at Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift!
Kayla Nicole appeared in a commercial for the fantasy sports app Sleeper that aired during the Super Bowl, playing a disgruntled ex in a parody about “emotional injury specialists” helping people cope with messy celebrity breakups. The ad starred Tiffany Haddish and Ben Simmons as over-the-top counselors called “The Ex-communicators,” with Kayla entering the scene identified simply as the “ex of a certain NFL player.”
Wearing a pink suit, Kayla immediately dismissed the pair’s expertise. “Don’t get me started on these two,” she said with attitude. “They’ve got no idea what they’re doing. At all.” She complained that Haddish and Simmons promised they could put an end to her “ex-girlfriend fiasco quickly.”
When Simmons pushed back on her word choice, Kayla tried again. “Rapidly,” she offered. Simmons rejected that too. “Okay, pronto,” Kayla continued, before Simmons finally interjected: “I said swiftly! Why is that so hard to remember?”
Fans immediately interpreted it as a direct nod to Taylor Swift’s name.
Kayla, 34, dated Travis on and off from 2017 to 2022. He began his high-profile relationship with Taylor in 2023, and the couple got engaged in August 2025 with a wedding expected this summer. The timing of Kayla’s commercial appearance — four years after their breakup and with Travis now engaged to one of the world’s biggest pop stars — made every line feel extra pointed.
This isn’t the first time Kayla has seemingly referenced her ex’s new relationship. Last Halloween, she recreated Toni Braxton’s look from the “He Wasn’t Man Enough” music video, which fans read as an indirect jab at Travis and Taylor. Before that, Taylor herself may have addressed Kayla in her 2025 song “Opalite” with the lyric “You were in it for real/She was in her phone” — though neither woman has confirmed the reference.
Kayla has been open about the toll of being Travis’s ex in the age of his Taylor Swift romance. “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just online chaos doesn’t impact me,” she admitted during a 2024 appearance on the Unapologetically Angel podcast. “It does. Even to this day. You could go to my most recent post and it’ll be people debating why I’m worthless and how I’ll never be a talented person.”
The commercial sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans praising Kayla’s humor and timing while others called it “loser behavior” and attention-seeking.
Either way, the 34-year-old influencer succeeded in making herself part of the Super Bowl conversation — and reminding everyone she’s still very much present in the Travis Kelce narrative.
